Our winter season is now in full swing. However, soon we will be preparing for spring!  

In the meantime, many will be celebrating Valentine's Day and enjoying school vacation this month. If you are searching for something special and out of the ordinary to do, check out the following list of museums in and around our area!

Brookline - Larz Anderson Auto Museum

The Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline is home to America’s oldest car collection. Their automotive exhibits provide fascinating stories of the far-reaching changes that the automobile has provided modern society.  


Cambridge - Harvard Art Museums

Ever since their founding, the Harvard Art Museums—the Fogg Museum, Busch-Reisinger Museum, and Arthur M. Sackler Museum—have been dedicated to advancing and supporting learning at Harvard University, in the local community, and around the world. The museums have played a leading role in the development of art history, conservation, and conservation science, and in the evolution of the art museum as an institution.


Chestnut Hill - Metropolitan WaterWorks Museum

Join one of their knowledgeable and passionate facilitators for a journey through the many stories connected to the Chestnut Hill High Service Pumping Station and the Boston Waterworks system. Tours are approximately 30-45 minutes long and free of charge. 


Clinton - Museum of Russian Icons

This museum exhibits one of the largest private collections of Russian icons outside of Russia. It holds the title of the largest collection in North America, boasting more than 1,000 Russian icons and artifacts. 


Concord - Concord Museum

The Concord Museum houses one of the oldest and most treasured collections of Americana in the country. An inspiring collection of American treasures includes the 1775 “one, if by land, two, if by sea” Revere lantern, Thoreau’s Walden desk and Emerson’s Study.

Hopkinton - Hopkinton Center for the ARTS

Hudson - American Heritage Museum

Hull - Hull Lifesaving Museum

Lowell - New England Quilt Museum

Salem - Peabody Essex Museum

Springfield -
The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum

Stockbridge - Norman Rockwell Museum

Waltham -
Gore Place

you can explore life of the early 1800s -- and how it relates to today.  Their historic buildings are some of the finest examples of Federal-style architecture remaining in the U.S. They also have the finest collection of Boston-made period furniture of any house museum in the U.S.


Waltham -
Rose Art Museum

Spellman Museum of Stamps and Postal History

The Museum’s mission and goal is to ensure that adults and children can visit this unique and special museum honoring and making available the exploration of stamps and their history.  In addition to vast collections of U.S. stamps and international stamps, the Museum is home to exhibits on broad ranges of subjects with a tie to philatelic content, such as the Holocaust, storybooks, wine and food, kinetic art, history of coffee, quilts, letter writing, origami, children’s puppets, seeing eye dogs, and Helen Keller.
